Mission Day
Mission Day October 16, 2011. The afternoon program will be at 3:30pm the theme for this event is: “INTENSIFY” With Strength from Heaven in 2011. Our program focus centers on the issue of the mass incarceration of African Americans as described by author Michelle Alexander in her recent book, The New Jim Crow. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Walter Boyd, Director of Criminal Justice Programs for Protestants For The Common Good. He will help to increase our awareness of this critical issue and expand our thinking about its mission possibilities. The TBCoC Praise Dance Ministry is looking for women, men and youth (7 years and older) who have the desire to worship God through the ministry of dance. If you’ve been interested or curious, but you thought you’d never be able to dance in front of the congregation, we invite you to join us, and we want you to know NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. All you need is a willing heart and a passion for serving God through dance. If you do, however, have dance experience, we invite you to explore your choreography gifts with us. Join us on Thursday, September 15 in the 3rd floor Rotunda from 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. If you would like to know more, see members Tamera Phillips and Allen Patterson. If you have not updated your information or that of a friend or relative, please visit a volunteer (with a laptop) at one of the stations listed below. Or you may complete the Database Update form (on the Tape Counter or security desk at the Parking Lot entrance) and give it to a volunteer. The stations are located in the Main Lobby, Parking Lot Entrance, Beverly Room, Cafeteria and the Pastor’s Office. We appreciate and thank you for your cooperation.

All Youth Ages 14-19. The American Baptist Home Mission Societies is sponsoring the 2012 Gathering of American Baptist Youth for the: "Immerse Conference”. The conference will be held July 24-28, 2012 in Washington D.C. There will be youth meeting from across the country, participating in tours of the city, creative, powerful worship experiences and exciting recreation time. The American Baptist Home mission societies are sponsoring 10 Youth from TBCOC to attend with free registration. The Youth Ministry is also willing to sponsor youth for their travel and hotel expenses. If you are interested, you must RSVP by November 27, 2011. Parental consent is required. The Christian Education Department of Third Baptist is offering a Financial Peace University class that will teach you God’s way of handling money. Together we’ll climb out – one family, one church, one community at a time. Family Bible Study - Fall Session
Please plan to join us this Wednesday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. sharp for the Fall Session of Family Bible Study. We have some exciting things planned that you won't want to miss - there is something for everybody!
Adult Classes:
Lifechangers: The Book of John (p.m. only) - A fresh look at a popular gospel, with emphasis on applying the Word to today's current life issues.
Christian Caregiving: A Way of Life (a.m. and p.m.) - In depth study shows how caring for the congregation is not just the work of the clergy, but that caring for and relating to each other is a way of living and demonstrating a distinctly Christian lifestyle. The text for the course is $10.00 and is available by prepay only; please stop at the Christian Ed table in the Cafe to sign up for the class and order your book.
Youth Classes:
Discipleship Jr.- Getting to Know God - These lessons will teach our young saints age 4-12 about God's character through a study of his names, and give them a practical introduction to large and small group prayer.
Teen Life Solutions -Teens age 13 and up will continue to dig deeper into their purpose through lessons that address topics important to today's youth and help them find solutions based on God's Word. ***************************************************
